The Bull of Seven Battles [Oak with stained glass backing.] |
|
"I am the wind which blows over the sea / I am the wave of the deep / I am the Bull of Seven Battles / I am the eagle on the rock / I am a tear of the sun." (Amergin, a Celtic poet) The bull symbolized strength and potency in Celtic mythology. A winged bull was even more powerful, for it could move between earth and sky. Celts considered the bull a symbol of the animal nature of man, and a great positive in battle.
