The circle is a mandala of a path back to the center of all things.  The whorls are energetic symbols of the power and certainty of the universe.  In Celtic culture the spirals represented the continuous cycle of life: Birth, Death, Rebirth.  Druid priests used the design as a symbol to encourage the Celt to evolve spiritually.
