The Fourth Element

The numeral four is a universal religious symbol, because man has an unconscious tendency to round off the Trinitarian formula with a fourth element--which is considered feminine.  In the Celt's anthropomorphic belief system the land is feminine.  Therefore the land is She, and She is the Mother who nourishes life and provides the continuity that binds all things together..
