In the ancient Celtic world the oak tree was a symbol of major importance.  Druid priests taught that the roots of the tree resided in the Lower World, the world of the dead where Shamans went to talk to the dead.  The trunk of the tree resided in the Middle World, the world we live in, the world of everyday problems.  The branches resided in the Upper World, a place of creativity and of the future.
